The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) rescinded its contract with the technology firm Territorium Life, a deal valued at roughly 69 million pesos, after irregularities were detected in the online admission exam for the 2026‑2027 cycle. The university cited atypical scores and suspected use of artificial‑intelligence tools during the test.

UNAM announced three parallel audits: a technological review of the platform, an internal audit by the university’s Contraloría, and an external audit by the Auditoría Superior de la Federación (ASF), which the rector Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas formally requested.

The institution will fully fund a new in‑person “control exam” scheduled for 12 – 19 August 2026 in Mexico City, León, Oaxaca and Tijuana. Applicants will not be charged any additional fee. Minimum‑score tables for the 2021‑2026 period were published, with the highest thresholds such as 111 correct answers for Medicine.

Around 58 000 candidates are expected to take the control exam, of which roughly 22 000 are projected to secure admission to a degree program.
