UNAM student with perfect exam score faces admission uncertainty

Brisa García Santiago, a 17-year-old Zapotec student from Oaxaca, is facing uncertainty regarding her admission to the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) after achieving a perfect score of 120 on the initial online entrance exam.

Following reports of potential irregularities and cheating during the virtual evaluation process, UNAM implemented a mandatory in-person control exam to verify results. However, García Santiago reported that she was not notified of the second evaluation and was unable to register or access the testing site in Oaxaca when she attempted to participate.

Seeking to prove her academic merit, the student expressed her willingness to undergo the control exam to demonstrate that her initial results were earned fairly. In response to the situation, UNAM Rector Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas stated that the university will provide an institutional review of her case before the admission process concludes.
