UNICEF and Pluz Energía partner to combat child anemia in Lima, Peru

UNICEF and Peruvian energy firm Pluz Energía have signed a strategic alliance to prevent childhood anemia in the San Benito neighbourhood of Carabayllo, a district in northern Lima. The program, running from 2026 to 2028, targets 650 children under three years old and focuses on strengthening community health agents and improving nutrition and hygiene in local communal kitchens.

The partnership will train 30 health agents for household visits, equip 15 kitchen‑group leaders with skills to prepare nutritious meals, and distribute educational and hygiene materials. Pluz Energía General Manager Walter Sciutto said, “Our impact goes beyond energy provision; collaborating with UNICEF reaffirms our commitment to children’s wellbeing.” UNICEF deputy representative Laura Salamanca added that the private‑sector collaboration is essential to close gaps affecting early childhood development.
