UNICEF reports 300 children killed in Gaza over 300 days of ceasefire
UNICEF says at least 300 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip during the roughly 300 days since a cease‑fire was announced on 10 October 2025, an average of one child per day. The agency added that hundreds of other children are wounded, many severely, and that the humanitarian situation remains dire, with acute malnutrition, disease, unsafe water and a shortage of incubators forcing multiple newborns to share a single machine.
UNICEF regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, Edouard Beigbeder, called the cease‑fire “a failure for children” and urged the parties to turn pledges into concrete actions, including unhindered humanitarian access and the restoration of essential services. He also highlighted broader war casualties, noting that more than 73,300 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, over 58,000 children have lost one or both parents, and more than one million children need protection and psychosocial support.
