Ongoing Gaza and West Bank humanitarian and military crisis

Overview

The humanitarian crisis for children in Gaza persists as violence continues despite the October 2025 cease-fire. UNICEF reports that at least 300 children have been killed during the first 300 days of the agreement, averaging one child death per day. Recent casualties include 14-year-old Suhail Masoud Shallouf, who died from gunshot wounds in Khan Younis, and a child injured by gunfire at displacement camps in Al-Sudaniya. Military operations remain widespread. In Gaza, reports indicate quadcopter drones dropping explosives in Mushata Street and Shuja'iyya, artillery fire near northwest Rafah, and heavy gunfire from naval vessels and military vehicles near Khan Yunis.

As of early September 2026, the total Palestinian death toll in Gaza has reached 73,651, with 174,575 injuries. Since the October 2025 truce began, 1,344 Palestinians have reportedly died and 4,464 have been injured. Israeli forces currently control approximately 70% of the Gaza Strip. Military operations continue east of the ‘Yellow Line,’ which the Israeli military describes as targeting militants who pose a threat or violate the truce.

A severe humanitarian crisis remains. Rescue teams continue to recover bodies from rubble, particularly in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City; recent efforts included the burial of 100 victims, including 73 children and 106 women. Officials estimate that up to 10,000 bodies may still lie under the rubble, while between 4,000 and 5,000 people are considered missing and feared dead. Infrastructure damage is extensive, with approximately 90% of Gaza's infrastructure destroyed and reconstruction costs estimated at $70 billion. Additionally, foreign ministers from eight Arab and Islamic nations have condemned Israeli statements regarding the forced displacement of Palestinians, calling such rhetoric a violation of international law.

Claims

What the coverage asserts, and how many sources carry each claim.

Coverage disagrees

Sources make claims that cannot both be true. CLSTR reports the disagreement; it does not decide who is right.

  • "Among the 100 bodies recently recovered, 73 were children and 106 were women." ardh.news

    vs

"An estimated 10,000 bodies are believed to be under the rubble of destroyed buildings." royanews.tv

The first claim asserts that 106 women were among 100 recently recovered bodies, which is mathematically impossible.

  • "The cumulative death toll in Gaza has reached 73,651 and the number of injured has reached 174,575 since October 7, 2023." qudsnet.com · fatehmedia.ps · operamundi.uol.com.br · royanews.tv · ardh.news · +1 more

    vs

"The death toll in Gaza has reached 73,651 and injuries have reached 174,592 since October 7, 2023." fatehmedia.ps · www.alaraby.co.uk

The two claims provide different specific totals for the number of injured in Gaza (174,575 vs 174,592).
