UNICEF: Over 340 children killed in Gaza since ceasefire announcement

UNICEF has reported that more than 340 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since a ceasefire was announced over a year ago. In the last two weeks alone, seven children died due to airstrikes, drone attacks, and gunfire, while at least 33 others were seriously injured.

The humanitarian situation remains critical, with approximately 800,000 children displaced, many living in tents or damaged buildings. UNICEF estimates that 60,000 children have lost one or both parents during the conflict, and nearly all require psychological support to address trauma.

Food insecurity is a major concern. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that 466 Palestinians, including 157 children, have died from malnutrition and hunger since 2024. Over 1.4 million people in Gaza face crisis-level food insecurity or worse through 2026. Despite these challenges, over 560,000 children have resumed education, supported by various centers, including those backed by UNICEF, which also provides potable water to 1.2 million people.
