UNICEF warns of worsening child aid crises in Gaza and Ukraine

UNICEF says the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains catastrophic, with about 1.9 million of the 2.1 million residents displaced and access to clean water, health services and essential supplies severely restricted. Only 44 % of planned deliveries reached the enclave in May‑June, and up to 70 % of the population now has less than six litres of water per day, exposing children to dehydration, disease and malnutrition.

In Ukraine, a Russian strike on a UNICEF warehouse in Bilohorodka, near Kyiv, destroyed more than 106 000 aid items valued at roughly $3.9 million, including generators, drinking water, hygiene kits and water tanks. The attack comes as child casualties rise, with at least two children killed and more than 50 injured in recent weeks, marking the highest monthly child‑fatality count since 2022. UNICEF urges protection of children and humanitarian facilities amid ongoing conflict.
