Unidos do Viradouro holds samba-enredo final for Carnival 2027

Preparations for the 2027 Carnival are underway in Rio de Janeiro, highlighted by the samba-enredo competition at Unidos do Viradouro. Three songwriting partnerships have reached the final stage to determine the anthem for the school’s theme, ‘Griô’, developed by Tarcísio Zanon.

The finalists include the teams of Mocotó, Cláudio Mattos, and Lucas Macedo. The competition, which focuses on the oral traditions of West African populations, will take place at the school’s headquarters in Niterói.

In a separate development, Acadêmicos do Salgueiro has opened free registrations for its Maculelê dance group. The auditions, scheduled for September 22, seek men and women aged 16 and older to join the group for both Carnival performances and year-round artistic shows.
