UCR Buenos Aires completes institutional normalization amid internal split

The Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) in the Province of Buenos Aires has completed its institutional normalization, but the process was marked by an internal split. During a convention in La Plata, Pablo Nicoletti was elected president of the Provincial Convention, and Emiliano Balbín was confirmed as president of the Provincial Committee.

However, a minority sector known as "Construir," led by former Trenque Lauquen mayor Miguel Fernández and provincial deputy Alejandra Lordén, walked out of the convention. The group protested the distribution of party positions, specifically noting they were excluded from the four-member Electoral Board, which was split between the factions of Maximiliano Abad and Martín Lousteau.

The "Construir" group includes approximately twelve mayors and several legislators who intend to challenge the party leadership from outside the formal organizational structure, emphasizing a focus on territorial presence. Meanwhile, Emiliano Balbín has outlined a strategic roadmap aimed at 2027, stating, "We are a party of power that is going to fight in every corner of the province," while calling for the party to strengthen its own identity before forming electoral alliances.
