Unión Cívica Radical debates leadership and potential alliances

The Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) is preparing for internal conventions to define its leadership and electoral strategy. In Catamarca, Genaro Contreras, the prospective party leader, has opened a debate regarding a potential alliance with Javier Milei’s La Libertad Avanza. Contreras noted that while the party has a historical vocation for alliances, the decision must be reached through an extraordinary convention where members can debate the party's direction for the 2027 elections.

In Chubut, party activist Horacio Quinteros highlighted that the UCR currently functions as a co-governing partner in the province. He noted that the upcoming convention in Esquel will be a significant moment for defining party leadership, marking the highest level of internal debate since 2017. Quinteros also expressed support for national economic measures, including public spending cuts and the removal of subsidies, citing a need for better financial administration.
