Unión Cívica Radical pursues internal reforms and critiques Milei administration

Members of the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) are pursuing internal restructuring and expressing opposition to the administration of President Javier Milei. In Mercedes, party sectors released a document titled ‘Invitación a los radicales’ to restore the party’s credibility. Signatories, including former officials Juan Antonio Portesi and Elva Roulet, called for the UCR to defend institutionalism, limit the use of emergency decrees (DNU), and ensure judicial independence.

The Mercedes district committee also issued criticisms regarding President Milei’s statements on the Malvinas issue and the presence of government officials in educational institutions.

In Reconquista, the UCR district committee renewed its leadership, with Marcos Ibáñez returning as president. The local leadership aims to consolidate unity among different sectors to build a political project for the upcoming electoral year. Provincial Deputy Dionisio Scarpín emphasized the need for dialogue and consensus within the ‘Unidos para Cambiar Santa Fe’ coalition to advance toward common candidacies.
