União Brasil appoints Camila Rosa as president and declares neutrality for 2026 election

The Brazilian party União Brasil confirmed a new leadership slate at its national convention in Aparecida de Goiânia. Councilwoman Camila Rosa was elected president and councilor Tatá Teixeira vice‑president, with a term running from 13 July 2026 to 31 January 2027. The directory also includes five other members, including secretary‑general Fábio Gonçalves da Silva and treasurer Elysson dos Santos Oliveira.

On the same day the party announced it will remain neutral in the 2026 presidential race. The decision, announced by party president Antonio Rueda, frees state directories to back any candidate they deem suitable for local political dynamics and ends the automatic support previously given to the Liberal Party (PL) candidate. Rueda said the move reflects the federation’s “political weight” and “maturity.” The neutrality also means the party will not endorse Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, and other centrist parties such as Republicanos have taken a similar neutral stance.
