União de Maricá announces 2027 Carnival theme ahead of Special Group debut

Brazilian samba school União de Maricá held a press event on July 3 at the Cidade do Samba to unveil the official theme and synopsis for its first appearance in the Grupo Especial in 2027. The presentation was led by carnavalesco Edson Pereira, with school president Matheus Santos emphasizing that the late‑released theme aligns with the school's identity and will be showcased on February 7, 2027 at the Marquês de Sapucaí.

In Niterói, the Unidos do Viradouro samba school marked its 80‑year anniversary with a celebration on July 27. The party featured performances by the school’s own troupe, guest appearances from Portela and Beija‑Flor, a concert by Banda Celebrare, and a DJ set. Tickets were priced at R$30, with additional information for premium seating available by phone.
