Union Berlin faces internal crisis following heavy defeat

Union Berlin is experiencing significant unrest following a 0-5 defeat in the DFB-Pokal against Cologne. The loss has led to public calls from supporters, including rapper Finch, for club officials to take decisive action regarding the coaching staff.

While some fans are calling for the dismissal of new head coach Mauro Lustrinelli, analysts suggest the core issues may lie with squad composition. Manager Horst Heldt has been criticized for failing to secure adequate replacements for key defenders Doekhi and Leite, as well as lacking quality in the attacking center, particularly with Andrej Ilic sidelined by injury.

Additionally, the club has cancelled its scheduled public training session due to ongoing construction work at the new training center at Alten Försterei, which currently prevents safe access to the pitches.
