Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy slams Telangana over delayed paddy procurement

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy criticised the Telangana government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, for delays in procuring paddy from farmers. He said the Centre funds every aspect of grain procurement—including bags, transport, credit, interest, and storage—so the state bears no financial burden, yet the state has failed to act smoothly despite being the country's top paddy producer.

Reddy claimed farmers have taken to the streets demanding procurement and accused the state of deflecting blame while neglecting schemes such as the Crop Insurance (Fasal Bima Yojana) and farm loan waivers. He also labelled the state’s handling of fuel taxes and other farmer‑welfare measures as hypocritical and urged state ministers to visit districts and resolve the issues.
