Unionbat Gualeguaychú and Brio layoffs spark protests in Argentina

In Argentina, two separate labor disputes have escalated after failed conciliation hearings. Unionbat Gualeguaychú announced the termination of 101 workers and the closure of its plant in Gualeguaychú, moving production to a facility in San Martín, Buenos Aires. A mandatory conciliation session in Paraná ended without an agreement, leaving the dismissals to become definitive. Workers have maintained a protest camp at the plant entrance while awaiting indemnity payments.

Separately, former employees of the food company Brio in Rosario organized a public soup kitchen to highlight unpaid wages and full indemnities for 60 dismissed workers, part of a nationwide total of about 200 layoffs. The protest followed an unsuccessful conciliation meeting in Santa Fe, and participants, including spokesperson Gabriela Díaz, warned that the dispute extends across several provinces and will continue until a settlement is reached.
