Union‑led agitation declared at Genoa’s Terminal Rinfuse, overtime halted from June 30

The local branches of the unions Filt CGIL, Fit CISL and Uiltrasporti formally proclaimed a state of agitation for all staff at Terminal Rinfuse in Genoa, ordering an immediate stop to any overtime or supplemental work from 30 June until a negotiation table is convened. The unions cite persistent uncertainty over the terminal’s industrial and occupational future, the absence of a clear strategic plan, lack of transparency on the renewal and stability of the port concession, unclear future use of operational areas, and no binding guarantees for jobs and wages. They also highlight severe under‑investment, obsolete equipment and the resulting health and safety risks for workers.

The unions had requested a meeting on 17 April, received no substantive reply, and after a May 21 discussion with the Port Authority of the Western Ligurian Sea still received no certainty. A communication on 12 June merely postponed the convening of the negotiation table. The unions warned they could intensify legal strike actions if a prompt, concrete response is not provided. The dispute coincides with the Port Authority’s administrative process to bury the Giaccone and Inglese quays, and PSA Genoa Pra has warned of a potential loss of 75,000‑100,000 TEU of traffic during the summer season if the situation remains unresolved.
