Uniqlo partners with Japan Wheelchair Basketball Federation

Uniqlo has entered into a partnership agreement with the Japan Wheelchair Basketball Federation (JWBF) to serve as an official sponsor and supplier through March 31, 2029. The agreement follows Uniqlo’s recent partnership with the B.League, Japan’s professional men’s basketball league.

Under this deal, Uniqlo will support the Japanese national teams for both men and women, as well as next-generation squads including the U23 men and U25 women. The company will provide uniforms, training gear, and travel apparel. The new uniforms, themed ‘Rising Sun,’ were developed using athlete feedback to address specific needs of wheelchair basketball, such as moisture management through ‘Dry EX’ and ‘AIRism’ technologies, and the removal of slits to prevent snagging on wheelchairs.

The partnership was facilitated by Shingo Kunieda, a wheelchair tennis legend and Uniqlo global brand ambassador who also serves as a director for the JWBF. JWBF President Akira Tanaka noted that the support will help enhance the competitive environment and promote the sport’s appeal.
