United Airlines opens new Terminal B North at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport
United Airlines has officially opened the Terminal B North Concourse at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. The new three-level, 765,000-square-foot facility replaces infrastructure dating back to 1969 and serves as the centerpiece of the airline’s US$2.6 billion Terminal B Transformation Program.
The new concourse features 22 gates dedicated to narrowbody aircraft. Combined with the 26 refurbished gates in the south concourse, United will operate a total of 48 gates within Terminal B. The facility includes a new baggage system with tracking technology, enhanced vehicular access, and a street-level check-in area.
A major highlight is the new United Club, which spans approximately 54,000 square feet and is described by the airline as the largest lounge in the Americas. The lounge can accommodate 800 people and features an outdoor terrace, two bars, two buffet stations, and 11 private phone booths.
The terminal also introduces over 105,000 square feet of retail and concession space, emphasizing Houston’s culinary heritage through local brands such as B&B Butchers & Restaurant, Blood Bros. BBQ, and Blue Bell Creameries. Additionally, the project includes a US$16.8 million public art program.
