United Airlines Terminal B expansion at IAH
Overview
United Airlines has officially opened the new Terminal B North Concourse at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston. The three-level, 765,000-square-foot facility is a central component of the airline’s $2.6 billion Terminal B Transformation Program, replacing infrastructure that dates back to 1969.
The new concourse adds 22 mainline gates for narrowbody aircraft. When combined with the 26 refurbished gates in the south concourse, Terminal B will offer a total of 48 gates. This expansion is expected to increase passenger capacity for peak travel dates in 2026 by 40% compared to 2023 levels.
Key amenities include a 54,000-square-foot United Club, described as the largest lounge in the Americas, which can accommodate approximately 800 people and features an outdoor terrace. The facility also provides over 105,000 square feet of retail and dining space highlighting local Houston brands, a new baggage system with tracking technology, and a $16.8 million public art collection.
