In June‑July 2026 the Sudanese conflict intensified around El‑Obeid, where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) conducted drone attacks that killed at least 45 civilians and damaged essential infrastructure. International actors, including the G7, EU and United Kingdom, have imposed sanctions on networks financing the fighting, yet no sanctions target the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is described as a strategic NATO partner.

US‑based rights group Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) has urged the United Nations to adopt an arms embargo on the UAE, accusing it of supplying weapons, training, and logistical support to the RSF. DAWN highlighted that the United States, France, the United Kingdom and China provide significant arms to the UAE, with components already found in RSF hands, and it has appealed to these governments to suspend security cooperation with the Emirates.
