United States COVID-19 activity rises across all states

COVID-19 activity is increasing across the United States, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reporting rises in all 50 states. The most significant increases are currently observed in the South and West regions.

Medical experts note that these late-summer increases are typical for this time of year. Dr. Geeta Sood of Johns Hopkins Medicine observed that while the trend is upward, current levels remain below those seen during previous major surges. Dr. Michael Angarone of Northwestern Medicine added that seasonal increases are common around September, October, and during the winter months.

Common symptoms reported include runny nose, congestion, sore throat, and fever, though severe cases may involve breathing difficulties. Health officials recommend vaccination, improved ventilation, masking, and timely testing to mitigate the risk of severe illness and spread.
