United States says it remains open to diplomacy with Iran after attacks

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States continues to be open to a diplomatic solution with Iran, noting that the two nations have attempted negotiations multiple times and will welcome any progress. He made the remarks after the ninth U.S. attack on Iranian targets since the June cease‑fire memorandum, describing the ongoing strikes as a response to Iranian missile and drone activity that has endangered shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian officials condemned the attacks and warned of further measures to protect sovereignty. Kuwait’s air defence forces reported interceptions of hostile Iranian drones, while Bahrain activated its air‑raid sirens multiple times. A vessel was hit by a projectile in the Hormuz Strait, prompting a UK maritime safety alert. Casualties were reported in Iran’s Bouchehr port area, where the country’s only civilian nuclear plant is located.
