United States plans massive nuclear capacity boost by 2050

The United States, which currently operates 94 nuclear reactors supplying about 20% of its electricity, is projected to add 100‑300 GW of nuclear capacity by 2050 to meet rising demand from data centres and artificial‑intelligence workloads. McKinsey estimates the investment required at $105‑$170 billion.

France remains the largest nuclear power producer in the European Union, operating 57 reactors that account for roughly 70% of the bloc’s nuclear electricity. China is rapidly expanding its program and could overtake the United States as the world’s top nuclear producer in the coming decades.

Uranium suppliers such as Uranium Energy Corp. and Premier American Uranium are highlighted for their diversified uranium assets in the United States and Canada, positioning them to meet the expected increase in uranium demand.
