This stance comes as official data shows inflation remains a pressure point, with the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index rising 0.2% in July, bringing annual inflation to 3.7%.

Simultaneously, the Democratic Party is experiencing internal friction between progressive and moderate factions. Progressives are pushing for more aggressive populism, including higher wages and reduced healthcare costs, following recent primary victories. In contrast, moderates express concern that leftist rhetoric could alienate voters in competitive states by appearing too extreme or anti-business. This ideological divide persists as the party debates how to best present an economic alternative to voters.
