United States redirects 100 commercial ships in Strait of Hormuz blockade

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reports that U.S. forces have redirected 100 commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz over the last 60 days. This action is part of a maritime blockade imposed on Iranian ports following increased tensions and Iranian restrictions on regional navigation.

CENTCOM stated that “not a single vessel has passed through the blockade without authorization from U.S. forces” and emphasized that military personnel remain focused on maintaining maritime control. The operation follows the termination of a previous ceasefire agreement and comes amid ongoing military escalations between Washington and Tehran.

The blockade has significant implications for global energy markets, as the Strait of Hormuz is a critical transit point for crude oil. Following these developments, WTI crude prices have risen above $100 per barrel. Efforts to reach a peace agreement through mediation by Pakistan have reportedly reached a stalemate.
