United States Rejects Israeli Request to Review Iran Negotiation Memorandum

Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has been appointed to lead the next phase of delicate talks with the United States after months of heightened tensions. The United States turned down an Israeli request to examine the draft memorandum of understanding reached with Iran, leaving Israeli officials unaware of its full contents.

The undisclosed agreement, expected to be signed in Switzerland on Friday, is reported to contain 14 provisions, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, the reopening of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of sanctions on Iran, the release of frozen Iranian assets and a U.S.-backed reconstruction plan for Iran. President Donald Trump said he will review the document word‑for‑word, but no full text has been made public. Israeli officials have denied making a formal request, while a U.S. official called the claim “inaccurate.” Ghalibaf expressed limited trust in the negotiations, noting the need to balance hard‑line IRGC factions and reformist supporters within Iran.
