United States Space Academy proposed by President Trump

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to establish the ‘United States Space Academy,’ a federally funded institution intended to provide tuition-free, four-year degrees. Unlike traditional military academies, graduates would not be required to perform active-duty military service; instead, they may fulfill their obligations by working as NASA employees or in other government civilian roles.

The academy aims to train a diverse group of professionals, including astronauts, scientists, engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, civil servants, and warfighters. A commission led by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman has been tasked with determining the operational details and eligibility requirements by Christmas.

The proposal follows previous discussions regarding space-related training institutions, including earlier concepts for a ‘Starfleet Academy’ proposed by Isaacman to certify spaceflight hardware and personnel competence.
