United States strikes Iranian launchers on Larak Island

The United States has resumed military strikes against Iran, marking a significant escalation in Middle East tensions. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that American forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island, located in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The operation was launched after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps elements were observed preparing rockets equipped with sea mines intended for the strait.

According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, the strikes resulted in two deaths and two injuries. In response, the Revolutionary Guard threatened further retaliation, claiming to have targeted U.S. military installations at two airbases in Jordan. They warned that “any act of hostility will be met with even more powerful reprisals.”

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime passage through which approximately one-fifth of the world's hydrocarbons previously flowed. To ensure the “free flow of commercial trade on this essential waterway,” the United States has implemented a blockade of Iranian ports and announced the completion of demining operations in international shipping lanes.
