United States targets CJNG cartel and Mexican politicians

The United States is intensifying its efforts against Mexican drug cartels, specifically targeting the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Michael Gonzales, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, stated that the U.S. must launch a major offensive against cartels, identifying the CJNG as the most significant and imminent threat to U.S. interests.

The U.S. Department of State has announced over $100 million in rewards for information leading to the arrest of cartel leaders and has imposed visa restrictions on 65 individuals linked to the group. While the U.S. intends to work in partnership with Mexican authorities to locate and capture these individuals, security experts suggest that the U.S. administration may also pursue arrest warrants and extradition requests for Mexican politicians allegedly linked to organized crime.

Specific political figures, including Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya and Senator Enrique Inzunza, have been identified by security specialists as individuals potentially facing legal action in U.S. courts due to alleged ties to criminal groups such as 'Los Chapitos'.
