United States weather patterns show widespread late-October warmth
Much of the central and eastern United States is expected to experience above-average temperatures through late October, potentially delaying the arrival of typical autumn weather. According to the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) and NOAA, high pressure will maintain warmer-than-normal conditions from the Rockies to the East Coast between October 22 and 26.
While warmth settles over the central and eastern states, cooler conditions and increased rainfall are anticipated in the West and Plains. A low-pressure system developing over the Southwest may move through the Rockies, bringing rain chances to much of the West and potentially tapping into moisture from Hurricane Trudy in the eastern Pacific. Additionally, high pressure is expected to favor drier weather across the Great Lakes, Ohio, and Tennessee valleys, as well as parts of the South.
