Universal Ads highlights creator migration to television
Media executives are highlighting a shift in advertising as content creators move from social media platforms into television and connected TV (CTV) environments. Daniel Druger, vice president of product at Universal Ads/Comcast, noted that creators are increasingly developing the production quality and storytelling capabilities necessary to compete for television audiences and advertising budgets.
Druger cautioned that brands must adopt a new creative mindset when transitioning creator-led campaigns to the big screen. He warned against simply applying mobile-first social media strategies to television, noting that the viewing experience—which is typically a deliberate, full-screen engagement—requires a different approach than algorithmically driven mobile feeds.
Complementing this shift, research from Comcast Advertising suggests that television provides a “halo effect” that enhances performance marketing. The study found that brand recall was 8.7 times higher when search advertising ran alongside television compared to search alone. While digital channels like search and social are effective at capturing existing demand, television remains a primary tool for creating demand at scale through broad awareness and cultural reach.
