Universal Orlando Files Permit for Massive Dark Universe Expansion at Epic Universe

Universal Orlando has filed a new construction permit (B26903939) that authorizes a 71,500‑square‑foot project on the Dark Universe land at its Epic Universe theme park. The permit names Stantec Architecture as the contractor and the size is comparable to Disney’s Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster building, indicating a major new structure rather than a minor addition.

Earlier permits referenced site‑work and a project code named “Project 680,” suggesting groundwork for a larger attraction. While Universal has not disclosed whether the new build will be a dark ride, coaster, immersive walkthrough or live‑show venue, the filing aligns with early concept art that showed a large enclosed building that was never constructed. The park may also be preparing expansions for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic.

The filing offers the clearest public clue yet that Universal plans a significant expansion of Dark Universe less than a year after Epic Universe opened.
