Universal Orlando to close Fast & Furious ride and dismantle Lost Continent attraction
Universal Orlando announced that the Fast & Furious: Supercharged attraction will close permanently on August 16, 2026, with the final day of operation on August 17, 2026. The ride, which opened in 2018 in the San Francisco section of the park, is being shut down a year early to make way for the new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster slated to open in 2027.
Separately, demolition work has begun on the Lost Continent area of Islands of Adventure, including the former Poseidon’s Fury ride that closed on May 10, 2023. After three years of abandonment, crews have started removing the iconic trident and surrounding themed ruins, effectively ending the original 1999 attraction.
Both actions are part of Universal’s broader plan to refresh its Florida resort with new experiences.
