Universal Pictures announces ‘The Mummy: Book of the Dead’

Universal Pictures has officially confirmed the title of its upcoming film, ‘The Mummy: Book of the Dead’, which is scheduled for theatrical release on October 15, 2027. The production marks a return to the franchise's roots, as it will reportedly disregard the events of the 2008 film ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ to connect directly with the original two installments.

Original stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will reprise their iconic roles as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell. They are joined by returning cast members John Hannah, Oded Fehr, and Kevin J. O’Connor. Additionally, Egyptian actress Tara Emad has joined the cast in a lead role, though specific character details have not been disclosed.

The film is directed by the duo known as Radio Silence, consisting of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, with a screenplay by David Coggeshall. Production is currently underway.
