Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro begins rector election process
The election process for the Rectory of the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) has officially begun with the registration of four candidates. The aspirants include the current rector, Silvia Amaya Llano, who is seeking a second term focused on consolidating current institutional growth, and Rodrigo Miguel González Sánchez, director of the Faculty of Medicine, who aims to improve areas of opportunity and increase the rectorate's proximity to the faculties.
Other candidates include Elena Gutiérrez Franco from the Faculty of Fine Arts, who proposes restoring institutional congruence and reducing privileges, and Rosalba Galván Pichardo from the Faculty of Psychology and Education. Galván’s platform, centered on the slogan “more rights, less privileges,” emphasizes university autonomy, transparency, and addressing the precarious labor conditions of university staff.
Campaigns are scheduled to begin presenting their projects to the university community starting next Monday.
