Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro rector election

Overview

The Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) has moved from the candidate registration phase to the active voting stage of its rector reelection process.

Following the registration of four candidates—incumbent Silvia Amaya Llano, Rodrigo Miguel González Sánchez, Elena Gutiérrez Franco, and Rosalba Galván Pichardo—the university held elections to determine leadership for the next three years. During the voting process, Edgar Pérez González, president of the University Council Electoral Commission, reported that “no serious incidents have occurred.”

While some polling stations experienced minor delays in opening and there were slight discrepancies regarding voter registration, the commission addressed these issues. The election utilized 57 polling stations managed by 228 electoral commission members. Current rector Silvia Amaya Llano encouraged students, faculty, and the broader university community to participate in the democratic process.
