Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas holds summer 'Amor por la Ciencia' camp for 186 children

The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) organized its summer "Amor por la Ciencia" STEAM camp from 13 to 17 July 2026 at the Faculty of Engineering in Tampico. The program welcomed 186 children who explored science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics through hands‑on activities. The camp was led by Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado and coordinated by the Secretariat of Research and Postgraduate Studies and the Directorate of Sectoral Studies. Officials present at the opening included Evelia Reséndiz Balderas, Leticia Díaz Mariño, Roberto Pichardo Ramírez, COTACYT director Julio Martínez Burnes and Foundation Fleishman director Mariana Priego Zavala.

A closing ceremony on 17 July in Ciudad Victoria gathered over 650 participants, highlighting inclusive sport, cultural and educational sessions and featuring children from the state DIF system and rural communities. The rector emphasized the university’s social responsibility to foster talent from early ages, stating that "when a child discovers their talent, they also discover they can change their future." The camp is part of a statewide series, with future sessions planned for the northern zone and a central‑zone edition in Ciudad Victoria from 10 to 14 August 2026.
