Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas expands high‑level faculty and research ties to boost regional education

The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) is deepening its strategic alliance with the state government led by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and the Consejo Tamaulipeco de Ciencia y Tecnología (COTACYT). Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado said the partnership aims to transform the university’s pedagogy by recruiting doctoral‑level teachers from the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores e Investigadores (SNII). Approximately 470 of the 700 SNII researchers in the state now work at UAT, positioning the institution as a scientific pillar for Tamaulipas.

The university is also launching a program of 25,000 global certifications and micro‑credentials, and has introduced new master’s degrees in engineering that respond to local industry demand. Preparations are under way for the August school cycle, with student selection and scholarship schemes intended to widen access for families across the state. The governor’s recent visits to rural schools underscore the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and internet connectivity in remote municipalities.
