UAT rector Dámaso Anaya pledges growth and oversees campus renovations

Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado said he has no political ambitions and is devoting himself entirely to the development of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT). He highlighted that the university has broken historic records in student enrollment, coverage and infrastructure, and that its 2026 budget exceeds 2.85 billion pesos, with 56 % from the federal government and 44 % from the state. The institution employs about 2,800 teachers and is planning new high‑school campuses across the state.

Anaya also supervised ongoing modernization works at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences in Ciudad Victoria, including a complete renovation of the library with new study spaces and a refurbished cafeteria. The upgrades aim to improve academic and recreational facilities for students and staff.
