Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas hosts 5th research forum to connect projects with Tamaulipas regional needs
On 21 May 2026, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) held its fifth "Encuentro Territorial de Proyectos de Investigación en Ciencia, Humanidades, Tecnología e Innovación" at the Faculty of Engineering in Tampico, Mexico. Organized by UAT’s Secretariat of Research and Postgraduate and chaired by Rector Dámaso Anya Alvarado, the forum aimed to strengthen links between university research and the social‑economic challenges of the state of Tamaulipas.
The event gathered researchers, faculty members, municipal authorities, private‑sector representatives and civil‑society organisations. Sixteen interdisciplinary projects from the faculties of Architecture, Design and Urbanism; Engineering; Law and Social Sciences; and Commerce and Administration were presented, with participation from UAT research centres such as the Centre for Territorial and Habitat Studies, the HUB for Social Innovation Management, the Institute of Energy and the Centre for Port, Maritime and Coastal Engineering. Organisers highlighted the forum as a strategic platform for building alliances that direct scientific work toward regional development and sustainable solutions.
