Tamaulipas educational and healthcare initiatives announced

The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) has announced several institutional developments. The university reported a 7.71% increase in faculty recognized by the National System of Researchers (SNII), projecting a total of 503 certified professors by 2027. Additionally, UAT has launched the “Yo Soy Correcaminos” program to integrate new students through sports and cultural activities, and opened registration for its second generation of Virtual Baccalaureate for adults over 18.

In the state of Tamaulipas, the Secretary of Education (SET) held regional meetings to coordinate the 2026-2027 school year, focusing on the “Tamaulipas Educa” agenda. Furthermore, the state government and IMSS-Bienestar have established a coordination agreement to ensure free medical services, including consultations and medications, for the population without social security throughout 2026.

Academic initiatives at UAT also include the “Thesis in 3 Minutes” competition to promote scientific communication among over 100 students, and a legal forum at the Tampico campus regarding the rights of audiences and constitutional freedoms.
