Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas names new Defensoría de Derechos head

Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) appointed José de Jesús Guzmán Morales to lead the university's Defensoría de los Derechos Universitarios. Guzmán Morales was ratified to serve during the 2026‑2029 term.

The independent office is tasked with safeguarding the rights of students, faculty and staff, providing a confidential, open‑door channel for reporting mistreatment, harassment, arbitrary sanctions or wrongful dismissals. The rector emphasized that the Defensoría will support UAT's broader policies on inclusion, gender perspective and transparency, aiming to create a safe and non‑violent campus environment.
