Tamaulipas advances energy projects and educational initiatives
Tamaulipas is seeing significant developments in both the energy and education sectors. In energy, the Trion ultra-deepwater project, a collaboration between Pemex and Woodside, has reached 64% completion. Once operational, it is expected to contribute approximately 109,000 barrels of oil per day, representing about 8% of Mexico's current national production. Additionally, the Tamaulipas Constituciones field is being reactivated to bolster regional hydrocarbon activity.
In education, the state is preparing for the 2026–2027 school year with an increased enrollment of approximately 1.065 million students. The Tamaulipas Secretary of Education has confirmed that schools are ready to accommodate the growing demand. The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) is actively supporting students through various initiatives, including the Beca Futuro Tamaulipas program, the launch of an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum, and the approval of 17 new research projects. Local municipalities, such as Tula, are also providing educational tools like laptops, tablets, and school supplies to support families during the back-to-school season.
Health officials reported a decline in dengue cases in the state, with fewer than 100 cases and zero deaths recorded so far in 2026.
