Universidad de Guanajuato rector presents third annual activity report

Claudia Susana Gómez López, rectora general of the Universidad de Guanajuato (UG), presented her third annual activity report, highlighting progress in key institutional areas. The rector addressed ongoing challenges including educational demand, budgetary limitations, and the need for faculty training.

To address economic constraints, the university plans to update its Institutional Development Plan (PLADI) and implement strategies to optimize alternative funding sources through alumni engagement and fundraising.

Significant progress was reported in three specific areas: the financial viability of the university's Medical Network, the eradication of violence (specifically gender-based violence), and the integration of artificial intelligence. To manage AI, the institution launched the ColmenIA program, a secure platform featuring over 20 generative AI models. The program has already seen 217 teachers earn micro-credentials in AI for teaching, alongside training for hundreds of staff members in tools like Copilot.
