Universidad Diego Portales launches photography month and AI bootcamp programs

The Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) in Santiago is hosting a month‑long photography celebration throughout August. Activities include the exhibition “La ciudad ideal” by award‑winning photographer Cristóbal Palma, a permanent show “La Nación: Chile ayer hoy,” and inclusive astrofotography sessions led by Chile’s first NASA‑featured astro‑photographer Cari Letelier. The programme also offers digitalisation workshops for families and talks on artificial‑intelligence‑assisted image processing.

In parallel, UDP served as the venue for the Ministry of Science’s “Explora con IA” Bootcamp, gathering about 160 students, teachers and regional project teams. The intensive event, supported by MinCiencia, the Secretariat General of Government and the Ministry of Education, aimed to introduce ethical and practical uses of artificial intelligence in school research and innovation. Officials including UDP director Dora Altbir, subsecretary of Science Carolina Rossi and subsecretary General José Francisco Lagos highlighted the importance of AI literacy for the new generation.
