Universidad Nacional de Rosario advances heritage and memory projects

In Rosario, Argentina, the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR) and Conicet have undertaken initiatives focused on historical and cultural preservation.

Archaeologists Carolina Piccoli and Carolina Barboza have begun a heritage activation project involving the Lilia Spinelli collection. Their work includes studying ancient ceramics from the Goya–Malabrigo region, dating back approximately 2,500 years. The research highlights how indigenous peoples of the Paraná-Paraguay corridor utilized clay for both housing and symbolic ceramic pieces, often depicting animals like parrots and reptiles that were not part of their diet.

Simultaneously, the UNR conducted an act of reparation by restoring the personal files of María del Rosario “Charo” Spetale and Constantino Razzetti. Both were members of the university community who fell victim to illegal state repression during the period of 1968–1983. Rector Franco Bartolacci described the restitution as an act of justice and resistance against historical denialism.
