Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca launches heritage program in Zamora

The Pontifical University of Salamanca is launching a new educational initiative in Zamora called the Senior Higher Program in Cultural Heritage. Designed specifically for individuals over the age of 50, the program is a collaborative effort between the Diocese of Zamora and the ZamorArte Foundation.

Scheduled to begin on October 13, 2026, at the San Atilano Seminary, the curriculum will focus on four primary areas: the spiritual significance of Romanesque art, fine arts, local history, and musical legacy. The program features an official title and will be taught by more than 30 professors from the universities of Valladolid, Salamanca, León, and the Pontifical University of Salamanca, alongside architects, historians, and musicologists.

Bishop Fernando Valera presented the initiative, emphasizing the importance of providing continuous learning spaces for older adults and viewing this demographic as an active, vital part of society rather than a retired population.
