France implements reimbursement for reusable menstrual products
Starting October 1, 2026, reusable menstrual products, including menstrual cups and period underwear, will be eligible for reimbursement in France for women under the age of 26. Under the regulations, the Assurance Maladie will cover between 55% and 65% of the cost for two products per year, while beneficiaries of the Complémentaire Santé Solidaire (C2S) will receive 100% reimbursement. To qualify for this coverage, products must be purchased through a pharmacy.
In support of efforts to combat menstrual poverty, Université Paris Nanterre is organizing a free distribution of organic cotton menstrual underwear for its students on October 13, 2026. The university is collaborating with the brand MOODZ for this initiative.
Other academic updates in France include the University of Montpellier’s Booster Innovation Montpellier (BIM) program, which provides training and financial support to innovators, and Cergy Paris Université’s Open Access Week scheduled for October 20–22, 2026, to discuss open science and article processing charges.
