Universities in Chile and Argentina adapt curricula for technological shifts

Universities in Chile and Argentina are addressing evolving educational demands through curriculum updates and strategic foresight.

The Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) in Chile has formally launched a redesign of its seven pedagogy programs. Scheduled to take place during 2026 and 2027, the initiative aims to implement new curricula by 2028. The redesign covers disciplines including Spanish, Science, Differential Education, Physical Education, History, English, and Mathematics. The goal is to integrate national standards and technological advancements to ensure graduates can navigate diverse classrooms and complex social contexts.

In Argentina, the Consultative Social Council of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba is conducting prospective analysis to identify future challenges for higher education. Key areas of discussion include the impact of artificial intelligence on teaching and learning, the balance between virtual and in-person instruction, and demographic shifts. The council is specifically examining how to incorporate AI without undermining critical thinking and how to address the needs of an aging student population seeking professional retraining.
